Ten of thousands of horses every year die horrible deaths shipped to slaughter in Mexico and Canada.  All the horses pictured here were sentenced to death.  Yes, it is legal to dump horses in horrible condition.  Kill buyers don’t care about the suffering of these horses.  Most of these horses will not make it out alive, because no matter how hard rescues across the country try, raising the money needed it is almost impossible. There is a documentary called “Their Last Ride” if you want to see what is really going on.  But be prepared is hard to watch and very straight forward.

There are also thousands of horses suffering, neglect and abuse in this country every year.  Elderly horses are one of the biggest groups at risk, as they usually aren’t rideable anymore and have more medical needs, and fewer and fewer people every year are willing to spend money on a horse they can’t ride anymore.

85% of horse rescues fail within the first four years due to inadequate funding.  Because there is almost insurmountable apathy towards the plight of these beautiful animals.  Most rescues are funded by a core group of average people. Who are average people that give what they can spare.  They can only keep going for so long.  This model is unsustainable Corporate or Big Money donors are almost nonexistent in this cause.
